after talking with Macko_lanter9 and after much discussions
Macko Lanter9 and I would like you to know how to write like him. lol
now for beginners you may be asking your self-
Where Do I start?
How Do I start?
What Do I write?
How Do I write it?
its simple.
don't think about those questions too much and
start writting little by little. gradually you will be picking up pace.
but then
what do you do with 2 boxes full of poetry. [endless amounts of writing]
you take them out and cut them into little pieces and make short/long poems
out of all of them.
at least thats what I did.
you see, I have never been someone that will actually sit down and discuss poetry.
not even my own let alone other ppl's poetry.
there are a huge number of poets out there.
some don't even know it.
the reason I have grown up without knowing much of poetry is because
poetry is not my passion. nor is painting. [[[[LIFE Is My Passion]]]]
steal that one.
I just so happen
to be a natural at it. since childhood poetry and painting/drawing come natural to me.
like breathing.
so in the poetry section of a bookstore is where you will never find me.
now, I have been getting
alot of pms since i started my blogs a long time ago
on the HOW Can DO on this subject matter.
I am no expert.
maybe a scholar can help you and maybe one in the wings
will magically appear and help you further into your investigation.
what I can share with you is my journey
and I think that is good enough.
There are only four questions I consider when I write:
the value of life?
sacred?
spirit?
the value of death?
what did I eat for lunch?
[ok, there are five questions[big deal]]
The answer to each is the same: only love.
[except for the last one]
Inspiration:
what inspire you to write??
I remember writing a poem about wether using a spoon or a fork for my cup of noodles
when I was a teen and the fork WON.
we can get inspiration from a lot of places.
work/friends/life in general/living?
one time I got inspired by a word here as I read someones posts.
a word [one word] from like three paragraphs and then I started writing.
don't ask what that word was, now!!!! its our little secret
maybe what inspires me does not inspire you. thats okay.
we are all different.
maybe photography inspires you. you can write or paint about that.
maybe even add some poetry to your photography if you'd like
but thats for another topic.
sometimes songs inspire me and as I listen to music, I freestyle
and dance with my hands on the paper [don't steal that one] wink.gif
its no surprise that I have come to this site
and started something. [i must admit] it was God not mee!
I was just being myself.
the messenger.
sorry, slipped On track for a change there smile.gif
I've been told by ppl I do share my original poetry with to "read" poetry all the time
and get inspiration from other poets to learn about their style- to "read" classic poets
such as Aristotle. Emily Dickinson and contemporary
poets like Nikki Giovanni.
I don't need that. why?
because I have all you guys here to inspire me the way you all have.
now i feel like picking up the pen like I do my sword and slay the dragons for all my life.
I have my work published which I share bit and pieces of here but its been so long
since I started new "grounded" material. I think I will start now.
I think I will check out these poets for a read.
[maybe I will discover that I was possibly one of these great poets in a past lifetime]
hey it can happen! wink.
Unknown poets are good too. unpublished[mostly on line though]
not to steal anything from of course, just to learn from and become a better poet there after.
[remember that!]
get your work protected,
[nowadays ppl would want to steal your smile if they can]
I stole that from myself lol
have a journal about personal poetry you will only share with a few,
a journal you will only have for your Eyes only and
a journal where you can share with all[the whole public]
copyright/protect all.
this is turning into another topic so all i can say is
google it up and find out what you can and can't do[its a process]
you can also do two things. [quicker and easier]
create an online account like for example yahoo and
use it for your writings only[poetry/stories/screenplay]
and don't forget to write dates and times as well.
send an e-mail to this account and never open it nor write its password down.
unless if its in your heart.
so when you go to claims you punch em out!
and
also you can send your poetry in packages to your mailing address
and use your postage and date verified to protect your work and never open it
unless you have to but this is too oldschool so I suggest/recommend the first approach.
now you can share your work,
get outside opinions and share with friends/classmates,
[not enemies because they will steal your sh*t]
all feedback is constructive, whether positive or negative.
learn to grow from criticism; it will only help.
don't be afraid to share work with an audience.
[once your work is protected]
unless you don't care about giving others your stuff
and make them rich in the process!!
rich in both soul and $$$$
*Inspiration can come from ppl and music like artists such as Billy Corgan*
he has inspired me in my writing. [[[[I respect his work]]]]
but I have never studied him/nor do I need to study anybody because
my poetry comes from an original source God.
*most of you who have read my Enter the Shaman Blog know this*
before and after that
I have been told countless times how ppl here study my words and everything in between them. [alot]
I am flattered.[it makes me feel good] but we are all special this way. [don't lose yourself in me]
you ppl are missing the point. transfixed on a mythical hero.
instead you should focus within and find that Child, Fool, Skeptic and Mystic that resides
in each and every single one of you.
many ppl that know me WELL in real life consider me to be a sorta of a Neo from the Matrix character.
[we all share this in this journey]
yet, I spend most of my time Reminding ppl that everyone has a Neo in them waiting to come out
and blossom and be nourished.
-but thats because i found mine.
fuck, I am so Baddass!!!!!!
like I've been saying many blogs ago [I invite you to find yours!]
now lets begin.
carry a paper and pen with you all the time.
inspiration may hit you any time and place so be ready.
so many great ideas come and go and we have nothing to write it down on.
sometimes these great ideas come when we least expect them.
the last place you would like to be is stuck in the crapper
and having to use your own sh*t to write on toilet paper with your finger.
[kodak moment]
know metaphors and how to use them.
speak to hear how they sound.
think of them constantly and try to make them more eloquent and beautiful all the time.
after a while they should be able to flow freely and naturally.
you see this alot in the little work I've shared with you all thus far.
as you all may know.
I focus alot on the end.
I feel like the end really needs to make sense
and therefore give you a bang worth remembering.
instant death if you will. wink.gif
everyone should write like that.
it leaves a lasting impression.
but not all of ones poetry should merit this.
[then the ending gets too predictable]
have a wide/huge vocabulary.
this comes from reading, writing and speaking. [practice]
read avidly, and try to incorporate new words while writing.
practice using new words in conversations.
keep the flow going but steady.
[I like to play with words alot and mix and match]
Uuse imagery.
imagery is vital to poetry.
know how to describe things in ways that no one else describes them. [no copycats]
be aware of all five of the senses and how to describe effectively what each is experiencing.
I use imagery with words all the time because
its fun. then you can add color. [color with words only]
also ever poem has patters. see what rhymes and what does not. play with that for fun
even when you get down to write.
its easy to me but I understand like everything in life.
[If it was easy then everybody would be doing it so I understand]
which is why this topic came about, no need to thank me/curse me! thank God.
now,
look at the poetry or words I write and others too and you will find that
there are so many different styles [unless someones getting jacked]
the styles and ideas will vary from person to person and
you will find that some are similar to others because of either shared experiences
or topics but I tell you.
how many WW2 movies/books are there and yet see how each is told differently
through different eyes.
so in that note, I tell you to create/create/create
your identity will shine through because its unique.
its the laws of life. [here and after]
not even soul mates are exactly the same.
so don't get discouraged.
someone wrote about a topic you were interested earlier
then do another one. [one different????]
good luck!!
now forget everything you read here and write.
why? because poetry writes itself
for all you Mackoholics out there: I wear what Twiggy wears in that video to sleep every night. smile.
one more question mack?
over here?[the guy with a silly rainbow hat]
Macko_ where does all these ideas and magic come from?
where do you come up with all your stuff?
I don't know. interesting question.
I would like to think that it comes from heaven.
that it falls down like rain from the sky which is true
but that is not the only way.
there is no ONE only way.
I also go within the depths of myself.
I also go into my subconsciouss where my past life experinces reside and breathe like monsters
and I also go within where shadows and demons run a muck,
I go within where any evil lies and shine a light.
I go through hell.
wanna come?
then penetrate you life and cum!!
fuck yourself in poetry.
its a good lay.
then you will want to get married and have babies. wink.
